Privacy Policy

Effective July 13, 2026

Itemized helps you document your belongings for insurance purposes. It was built so that we never operate a database of your personal content. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches and where it goes.

Your inventory stays yours

Your items, photos, values, receipts, and policy details are stored on your device and, when you're signed into iCloud, in your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database). We cannot read, access, or recover this data — it belongs to your Apple ID.

AI analysis

When you capture an item or a receipt, the photo and the text of your spoken description are sent over an encrypted connection to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the item and estimate its value. Per Anthropic's API terms, this data is not used to train AI models. We route these requests through our own relay server, which holds no user accounts and stores none of your content.

Voice

Speech is transcribed on your device by Apple's speech recognition. Audio never leaves your phone and is never recorded or stored — only the resulting text accompanies a capture, and only if the microphone toggle is on (it is off by default).

What we can see

What we don't do

Diagnostics

The app keeps a local-only event log (feature usage counts) to help you and us understand the app's behavior. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it from Settings → Diagnostics.

Data deletion

Settings → Delete All Data erases your inventory from the device and, via iCloud sync, from your private iCloud database. Deleting the app and its iCloud data from iOS Settings accomplishes the same.

Children

Itemized is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
